Flash Museum
Back To Home Page
The Flash is easily my favorite character. Dunno why. As a kid, I just thought his power and costume ruled. I guess for a kid, that's more than enough reason for liking him...
In the comics, there actually IS a Flash Museum. This is my real life version of the Scarlet Speedster's Showcase site.
The plate on the right was done by Alex Ross, famed comic book painter. Flash and Superman have raced several times over but in recent years, it has been established that Flash is faster.
Jay Garrick, the Flash with the Mercury Helmet on the right, was the first Flash. He was created way back in 1940.
Barry Allen (left) was the second Flash. He debuted in Showcase #4 way back in 1956.
It was his success that ushered in the Silver Age of Comic Books, making the revival of Green Lantern and other DC Heroes, as well as the creation of the Justice League, the Fantastic Four, Spider Man, the X-Men possible.

Later, in 1985, Barry Allen gave his life to save the universe during the landmark DC Comics 50th Anniversary event, Crisis On Infinite Earths.

His protege, Kid Flash (Wally West), took over as the next Flash.
Barry Allen's grandson later surfaced and became Impulse (far right). The brash young speedster trained under Max Mercury, Zen Master of Super Speed (in white and blue) before becoming the new Kid Flash.
Two other speedsters ran alongside the Flash. The father and daughter of Johnny and Jesse Quick. Johnny was a contemporary of Jay Garrick while Jesse emerged during Wally West's time. Johnny Quick died in battle against Savitar, an evil speedster, while Jesse Quick lost her powers while she and Wally battled Zoom, another evil speedster.

The Quicks couldn't move as fast as the Flashes... but they could fly.
The Flashes on the right were done by Kenner and later Hasbro during the mid 90s. The yellow version is Professor Zoom, the Reverse Flash... widely regarded as Barry Allen's greatest rival.
Barry and Jay first met during the infamous Flash Of Two Worlds story. This was also when the parallel earths of the DCU were introduced...

This statue by DC Direct captures the cover of that landmark comic book in 3D.

This statue, based on the art work of cancer survivor Michael Turner, shows the Flash standing triumphant over his vicious foe, Gorilla Grodd.
ORIGINAL KID FLASH

Wally West was the first Kid Flash. Later, when his uncle Barry Allen (the second Flash) died during the Crisis On Infinite Earths, he took up the mantle of the Flash.
THE COSMIC TREADMILL

Powered by super speed, this device enabled Flash and other speedsters to travel through time, as well as traverse parallel universes.
